Summit Card Grading was born out of a simple frustration: the hobby deserved a grading company that actually cared about the hobby. We're collectors first, graders second — and that changes everything about how we do our job.
How It Started
The Hobby Needed Something Better
In 2024, our founder submitted a 1989 Ken Griffey Jr. Upper Deck rookie — one of the most iconic cards in the hobby — to a major grading company. It came back in a cracked slab with a grade he couldn't reconcile with the card's condition. No explanation. No recourse.
That experience sparked a question: what if a grading company was run by people who actually loved the hobby? People who understood that behind every card is a story — a childhood memory, a financial investment, a piece of history.
Summit Card Grading launched later that year with a small team, a clear grading rubric, and a commitment to treating every submission like it mattered. Because to us, it does.
